The probate court has two divisions – Estates and Mental Health with four Probate Judges to serve you. The Estates division handles matters concerning decedent estates, Will safekeeping, minor guardianships/conservatorships, and adult guardianships/conservatorships for legally incapacitated individuals. The Mental Health division handles adult guardianships for individuals with developmental disabilities, transport orders for individuals with a mental illness, and mental health commitment hearings.

Visiting the Court

The Probate Court is located on the first floor of the east wing of the Oakland County Courthouse. The Oakland County Courthouse is located on the east side of Telegraph, between Elizabeth Lake Road and Dixie Highway, in Pontiac, Michigan.

By Court Order, individuals entering the Courthouse are to abide by the following court rules: no cameras, camera phones, or recording devices. No weapons or cutting instruments allowed.
